Student designs launching in Co-op stores this September
On Wednesday 19th June, the Dragon’s Den Final took place at Co-op’s Head Office, with Co-op Academy Bebington being crowned the winners!
As part of Co-op’s Careers Offer for our Trust, year 8’s across our schools were challenged to develop creative designs for the new Korean Beef Pot Noodle product, launching exclusively in Co-op stores this September.
Unilever provided packs for our students to understand the various logistics behind how big brands launch new products, inviting them to develop their new in-store point of sale (POS) promotional materials.
The five academies shortlisted to attend the final were:
- Co-op Academy Bebington
- Co-op Academy Manchester
- Co-op Academy North Manchester
- Co-op Academy Stoke-on-Trent
- Co-op Academy Swinton
A huge well done to all the teams for their fantastic pitches!
They spent the day developing creative ideas, working with industry experts and pitching their final designs to a panel of ‘dragon’ judges from Unilever, Co-op Commercial, Co-op Media Network and Co-op Community and Member Participation.
Students did an incredible job bringing their final designs to life, but after much deliberation, Co-op Academy Bebington were crowned the winners! Their design is now selected to be used for the creative POS that will be launched in stores from 11th September this year!
Whilst we can’t share the design yet, watch this space for when they’re made public later this summer.
Co-op colleagues will also be treated to an early viewing of the designs, along with the opportunity to taste the new Pot Noodle soon.
“It was an amazing day and I'd like to say a huge thank you to all of the academies that participated. The event was a huge success for Unilever and they are already talking about how we could re-run in 2025 with the Women's Euro's, linking to a different brand!”
