Primary pupils help bring new Co-op Play Shop to life at Eureka!

Pupils from Co-op Academy Beckfield have played a special part in a brand-new partnership between Co-op and Eureka! The National Children’s Museum in Halifax.
The new Co-op Play Shop has been created to help children and families learn about shopping, food and sustainability through play. Designed for children up to the age of 11, the interactive space includes mini shopping trolleys, self-service tills and hands-on activities inspired by everyday experiences in a Co-op store.
As part of the project, Year 5 pupils from Co-op Academy Beckfield recorded voiceovers featured within the Play Shop experience. The children will also have the opportunity to visit Eureka! to see and hear their work brought to life.
The partnership aims to help children explore important topics such as reducing food waste, sustainable diets and energy use in ways that feel fun, practical and accessible.
The project reflects Co-op’s wider commitment to creating Access to a Sustainable Future and giving children meaningful opportunities to learn through play and real-life experiences.
We’re incredibly proud that Beckfield pupils have helped shape a project that will now be enjoyed by families from across the country.
