Partnership with Woodcraft Folk gives students unforgettable outdoor adventure

More than 100 students from Co-op Academies Trust have enjoyed residential trips to the Peak District thanks to a partnership with youth charity Woodcraft Folk.
The charity provided funding for students from five of our West Yorkshire academies to spend one or two nights at Lockerbrook Outdoor Centre, giving them the chance to step outside their comfort zones, build confidence and experience the outdoors together.
Students from Co-op Academies’ Brierley, Beckfield, Priesthorpe, Southfield and Penny Oaks all took part in the residentials, enjoying outdoor activities while developing new skills and friendships.
The residentials gave students the chance to challenge
themselves, work together and grow in confidence surrounded by the stunning Peak District landscape.
Feedback from group leaders highlighted the positive impact of the experience, with almost nine in ten saying students became more confident and independent, while over 90% reported improvements in teamwork, engagement and happiness through spending time outdoors!
The partnership builds on the shared values of Co-op Academies Trust and Woodcraft Folk, whose work focuses on helping young people develop confidence, life skills and a sense of belonging through practical experiences and outdoor learning.
"Experiences like these can have a lasting impact on young people. The residentials gave students the opportunity to try something new, challenge themselves and build confidence alongside their peers. We're incredibly grateful to Woodcraft Folk for making these experiences possible and for sharing our belief that every young person deserves opportunities to grow beyond the classroom."
A huge thank you to Woodcraft Folk for making these residentials possible for our students.
