A warm welcome for Co-op Academy Rathbone!

Colleagues from Co-op Academy Rathbone joined our senior leadership team for an induction event at Co-op's Headquarters on Friday 8th May.
The day brought together teachers, support staff and leaders to explore the values, ethos and shared ambitions that sit at the heart of Co-op Academies Trust.
Russell Gill opened the day with a welcome to the Co-op, sharing the history of the co-operative movement and how its principles continue to shape education across our schools today. CEO, Dr Chris Tomlinson, followed with an overview of the strategic vision for Co-op Academies, reflecting on the importance of being part of a growing and connected family of academies.
Colleagues also heard from leaders across a range of areas, including community development and colleague benefits. Sessions explored the support available across our Trust and how working collaboratively helps academies thrive both locally and nationally.
Steve Brice shared the ambitions for Co-op Academies from a local, regional and national perspective, while Ian Berryman, Executive Headteacher, spoke about academy development planning and the future for Rathbone as part of our Trust.
Reflecting on the day, Ian said:
“The induction day was a fantastic opportunity for colleagues from Rathbone to come together and begin building relationships across Co-op Academies. There was a real sense of positivity throughout the day and it was brilliant to see colleagues engaging with our shared values and vision for the future. We’re excited about the journey ahead and the opportunities this partnership will bring for both colleagues and students.”
Colleagues from the Community and People teams highlighted the many ways academies, colleagues and local communities are supported across our Trust. The Marketing Team shared how they help academies strengthen engagement and communication with families.
The event also gave colleagues time to connect with one another, ask questions and reflect on the opportunities ahead as part of the Co-op family.
“It was a pleasure to welcome colleagues from Co-op Academy Rathbone to One Angel Square as they begin this new stage of their improvement journey with Co-op Academies Trust. The induction provided an important opportunity to share our strategic priorities, collaborative approach and the support available across our network of academies. We look forward to working together, supporting and challenging Co-op Academy Rathbone in the years ahead to ensure the school becomes a truly excellent academy.”
The induction event marked an important milestone as Co-op Academy Rathbone continues its journey with us after a successful first year at our Trust. With shared values, collaboration and community at the centre, colleagues left the day with a strong sense of belonging and excitement for the future ahead.
