SENCO (Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator)

At MCMA we are committed to securing the best possible outcomes for all our students.  The role of SENCO is integral to this vision becoming a reality and we are seeking to appoint an excellent practitioner who is committed to working with vulnerable learners.

The role of SENCO is to lead the SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) provison within the Academy working in close partnership with the Vice Principal (Inclusion).

The SENCO will lead and oversee the provision made by the Academy for students with SEND and provide professional guidance that results in excellent quality first teaching and the effective use of resources within the Academy environment.  They will be adept in forming positive and productive relationships with a range of stakeholders.

The successful candidate will be a highly successful and experienced teacher in his or her subject specialism and be able to enthuse, motivate and inspire students, generating a love for learning.  The successful candidate will be able to evidence excellent leadership, management and communication skills.  They will be a strong team worker who is committed to securing high standards and be able to demonstrate a willingness to work hard and drive improvement.  He or she will be a creative thinker with the ablity to develop MCMA as a centre of excellence for inclusion and SEND provision.

The successful candidate will be able to build and develop a successful team ensuring that all team members are able to deliver effective intervention and support to enhance the progress made by SEND students.

As MCMA is part of the Co-operative Academies Trust (CAT) it is expected that the SENCO will also, where appropriate, contribute to the work of the Trust and the schools within the Trust.

It is expected that all staff within two years of joining MCMA will be operating at a minimum of good with outstanding features and working towards being outstanding in their teaching, learning and specific areas of responsibility.
