The John Curwen Co-operative Primary Academy is on the up. As a school committed to co-operative ethical values we need to be honest and open so we won’t hide the fact that the academy was judged by Ofsted in March 2018 to require ‘special measures’ to improve. Those ‘special measures’ are now in place, with the support of the Co-op Academies Trust, and we are really improving.
We are now looking to appoint an ambitious and engaging individual who can help shape and deliver a shared vision for the future. Through all that we’ve been through we haven’t lost our love for co-operative values and principles so it is important that applicants are willing to fully embrace these. We must bring them more into the learning experiences for the pupils and use these to drive up academic standards. We have started this well, so we have some momentum but we now need to embed the improvements across the school more securely so that all children have the chance to learn.
The academy has many strengths including the staff who are committed to the pupils, their families and the community and the support of one of the most successful co-operative Trusts in the country.
We welcome interest from existing head teachers looking to further their career supported by a highly regarded Trust as well as those from talented and ambitious deputy head teachers, with vigour and verve, looking for their first headship. Housing is generally cheaper ‘up North’ so a relocation package is available.
So if you’re looking for a challenge and are a committed educationalist, steeped in the skills and knowledge of school improvement, with a belief in the power of co-operation to achieve great things – please get in touch with us.
