Governance Officer

Are you self-motivated with excellent administration and communication skills? We are looking for somebody to join our award-winning governance team to provide support to the Governance Manager and a comprehensive clerking service to at least four of our West Yorkshire based Academy Governing Councils (AGCs), along with cover for other academies as needed. You will also support the Governance Manager for the West Yorkshire region with the recruitment and on-boarding process for new governors and also with organising and clerking academy exclusion panels, complaints panels and HR panels.

We have 13 academies in total throughout Leeds, Bradford and Kirklees so we are a busy team! A flexible approach to working hours is important as the role does involve attending some twilight / evening governors meetings during term time and although much of the work can be undertaken from home, regular attendance at academies for meetings will be required in the future. The majority of meetings are currently taking place online but some are moving back to in-person meetings as restrictions due to the pandemic are lifted.

The ideal candidate will already hold the Chartered Governance Institute’s level 3 qualification in clerking but if you don’t already hold it you must be willing to undertake it, funded by the Trust.
