We’re looking for Clerks to join our experienced governance team.  

Co-op Academies Trust was set up by the Co-op Group, following its initial sponsorship of two schools in 2010. We have now grown to 25 academies with plans for further expansion. The Trust exists to add social value. It does this through working effectively in socially and economically challenging areas having an unflinching focus on academy improvement and demonstrating a full commitment to co-operative values and the Ways of Being Co-op.

The Trust is seeking to establish a new team of governance clerks to deliver a high quality and comprehensive clerking service to our academy local governing bodies (LGBs) based in the following areas: Leeds (5 schools), Bradford (7 schools), Kirklees (1 school), Greater Manchester (6 schools and 1 sixth form college), Wirral (3 schools) and Stoke/Staffordshire (2 schools).  

This is an exciting opportunity to join our governance team, which will include access to regular team meetings and training. Successful candidates will have experience of organising and clerking meetings, excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills, be able to work independently and to organise their own time whilst working to strict deadlines.

The roles are term-time only and part time, and hours will be flexible across the year, to meet the needs of the governing bodies. The number of hours worked will depend on the location and the number of academies clerked, with specific arrangements being discussed and agreed with successful applicants. The majority of LGB meetings take place in the late afternoon or early evening. A flexible approach to working hours is essential as successful candidates may be asked to service additional meetings in order to meet the governance needs of the Trust (for example pupil disciplinary committees, complaints panels, HR hearings) or to provide cover for other team members in their absence.

The roles will have an office base in one of our regional hub offices (Bradford, Manchester or Stoke), but flexible working is encouraged and much of the work could potentially be undertaken from home. Attendance at academies for meetings is required, and travel expenses will be reimbursed. A laptop and mobile phone will be provided. 

£24,276 – £28,050 per annum pro rata (part time, term-time only). This equates to approximately £12.75-£14.50 per hour, depending on experience, and includes an allowance for holidays. Salaries are due to be reviewed Autumn 2020 and may be increased but this cannot be guaranteed.
