We’re looking to appoint a governance clerk to join our team of clerks delivering a high quality and comprehensive clerking service to our academy governing councils (AGCs) based in the following areas: Leeds, Bradford, Kirklees, Manchester, Oldham, Salford, Wirral and Stoke/Staffordshire. This role will have a specific focus on the clerking of panels hearings held across the Trust.

This is an exciting opportunity to join our governance team, which will include access to regular team meetings and training. Successful candidates will have excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills, and be able to work independently and organise their own time whilst working to strict deadlines. The role will include providing advice to governors on procedural and legislative matters in accordance with our Trust’s governance approach and relevant statutory guidance and policy. The postholder will provide support to governor panels, including producing minutes and decision letters, under the guidance of Governance Managers. They will be required to maintain accurate and full records, provide administrative support for panels, and support the work of the wider Governance Team. Successful applicants will be expected to have substantial experience in a similar role. Because of the nature of this role, discretion and confidentiality are vital.

The role is full time during term-time only. A flexible approach to working hours is essential as successful candidates may be asked to service additional meetings in order to meet the governance needs of the Trust or to provide cover for other team members in their absence.

The roles will have an office base in our Manchester regional hub office, but flexible working is encouraged and much of the work could potentially be undertaken from home. Travel to academies for panel hearings is required, and travel expenses will be reimbursed.
