Dyslexia Awareness Week with Co-op Academy Clarice Cliff
Last week was Dyslexia Awareness Week. It’s estimated up to 1 in every 10 people in the UK has some degree of dyslexia NHS. This year’s theme was Invisible Dyslexia.
“We’ll highlight the importance of mental health, increase visibility of underrepresented groups, and raise serious issues of dyslexia being overlooked within education and the workplace.” – British Dyslexia Association.
“One of our values is ‘Be Yourself, Always’ and dyslexia is part of me. It’s important to show our students that all the things that make us different, are what make us better together.
Troy and Isobel were fantastic interviewers and it was a pleasure to speak to them”- Dr Chris Tomlinson, CEO
You can watch their interview here
“It was nice to hear what Mr. Tomlinson struggled with at school because it was the same as me so I know I’m not the only one” Troy
“The interview was good because I saw what I can do in life if I don’t give up.” Isobel
“I’m so inspired by Isobel, Troy and Chris being prepared to speak about their own experiences of being dyslexic. This will not only raise awareness of dyslexia (the positives as well as the negatives) but also help to create environments in which other dyslexic individuals feel comfortable to discuss what might help them to learn, succeed and feel included” Mrs. Elizabeth Jones, SENDCo and Designated Teacher for LAC, Co-op Academy Clarice Cliff
