Steve Murrells visits two of our Bradford academies
Co-op Academy Southfield and Co-op Academy Grange welcomed Steve Murrells, Chief Executive of the Co-op Group and Chris Tomlinson, Chief Executive Officer of Co-op Academies. The academies, who recently joined Co-op Academies Trust, are co-located on the same site in Bradford.
On the journey around the academies, Steve stopped to talk to colleagues and students who had questions and wanted the chance for a picture with him.
Steve discussed the ways that the Co-op, under his leadership, ensure all colleagues are empowered to be themselves always, no matter their race, sexuality, gender or other defining features. And how these same principles apply to our academies and help the communities that any Co-op is in.
Around every meeting table, in every process, in our decision making & in our ambitions I want our Co-op to be #inclusive. Are we there yet? No. Are we making progress? Without a doubt! We will move faster, with more focus and determination #ItsWhatWeDo #NationalInclusionWeek

The hot topics didn’t end there, there were questions about sustainable packaging and better recycling, making sure Co-op’s products are recyclable. And of course questions about why Co-op decided to take on academies.
The Co-op’s continued commitment to our academies couldn’t be clearer.
