Co-op Academy Manchester
Co-op Academy Manchester serves the Higher Blackley area of Manchester, and is currently undergoing an expansion project that will create 1500 places for students in years 7 to 11 by 2021.
Co-op Academy of Manchester opened in September 2010 in a state-of-the-art building that was significantly extended in 2018 due to the popularity of the school.
In the academy’s last full inspection (2014), Ofsted singled out leadership at all levels, the safety of students and the academy’s approach to both careers education and the teaching of spiritual, moral, cultural, social education as “outstanding”. All other areas were confirmed as at least “good”. A short inspection in 2018 confirmed that the academy continues to improve, and said of the standards in English lessons and our attendance figures, that they were “exemplary”.
The academy’s attendance figures (which are the best in the city of Manchester and in the top 1% of secondary schools nationally) show the massive change in the academy’s achievements since the Co-op started sponsoring the academy.
