Priesthorpe School to Join Trust

A Leeds secondary school is about to join one of the most successful Multi Academy Trusts based in the North of England.*

Priesthorpe School in Pudsey, will join the Co-operative Academies Trust (CAT), which oversees eight secondary and primary academies in Leeds, Manchester and Stoke-on-Trent, in the next few months.

The school, led by Martin Blacoe, which is already committed to co-operative values approached CAT nearly a year ago, and has carefully considered its options. The trust were invited to meet with governors, staff and parents to help the school decide on the best way forward. As a Co-operative Foundation School already, it was clear that CAT’s principles and values were a good match.

Frank Norris, Director of the Co-operative Academies Trust, said: “I am very proud of what all the Academies within the Trust are doing and how they are delivering the highest standards of education based on co-operative values and principles.

“It was no coincidence that the Department of Education’s data published in January shows that CAT is one of the best MATs based in the North of England

“We feel privileged that Priesthorpe School is joining us because I know that, like us, the staff and governors are committed to creating an outstanding learning community where all students can achieve their maximum potential.”

Headteacher of Priesthorpe School, Martin Blacoe said: “This is great news for the school. I am convinced that with the support of the Co-operative Academies Trust we can complete the transformation journey which we have already begun.”

It is envisaged that the Academy, will join the Co-operative Trust within the next few months.
