1 Angel Square is feeling festive!

There were some special little visitors in 1 Angel Square yesterday. They’d travelled all morning to get here and were full of Christmas spirit and joy. No it’s wasn’t Santa’s elves, it was the fantastic school choir from one of our sponsored co-operative academies!

The pupils from Oakwood Primary Academy, who were 7 to 11 years old performed Christmas songs to colleagues in the atrium, conducted by Headteacher Becky Ingram. Then the choir treated diners on the 9th floor to a few songs as they enjoyed their Christmas lunch.  At the end of their visit Rod Bulmer and Alistair Asher, from the Executive, presented the children with a special Christmas hamper to share with their classmates.

Oakwood primary academy is one of the Group’s four sponsored primary academies in Leeds. It is joined by three secondary academies in Manchester, Leeds and Stoke-on-Trent, which make up the Co-operative Academy Programme. As sponsor, we provide some financial support but more importantly business expertise and work-related learning opportunities for our academies and their learners, which in turn gives our colleagues many development and volunteering opportunities. Through this support we help provide outstanding educational opportunities for the schools and their communities, with co-operative values and principles as the foundation, bringing to life our Purpose of championing a better way of doing business for you and your communities.
